Elijah in D Major(for Elijah McClain)

Your music was love

breath of God

flowing through

your beautiful instrument

too beautiful

for this world

to listen

because

we do not appreciate

beauty

art

love

when it is among us

we mock

turn a blind eye

a deaf ear

we tear down

we murder

that which

we do not wish

to understand

But we heard your music

that night

even though they

did not

and we applaud your concerto

we never did

while you were here

and try to compose

a requiem

that will be fitting

to one as beautiful

as you.
