Terrell D Perkins

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Terrell D. Perkins began his artistic career as a cartoonist, but soon honed his skills as a photographer and filmmaker.

In his youth, Terrell’s grandmother felt he obtained the gift of artistry, regardless of physical limitations. Mr. Perkins was born with a deformity of both hands called syndactyly, which produces skin and bones to form as a unit. Not allowing his “disability” to cease his love of illustration, his mother acknowledged this gift (as his grandmother previously had done) and provided Terrell with a pad and pencil at the age of three.

This provision transformed his life in ways he could have never imagined.

As time progressed, pad and pencil generated positive experiences for the young Mr. Perkins, such as exhibitions at the renowned Brooklyn Museum, various Manhattan gallery displays, as well as many one-man gallery productions at 207 Art Gallery (In New York City).

Soon after, Terrell had the desire to attempt an excursion into the world of cinema, after having continuously studied film credits. This studying would contribute to the jump start of his film career. In 2005, Mr. Perkins organised his first film, a documentary titled “Deeberry Remember Me”, which chronicles periodic moments of his childhood, trials overcoming bullying, in addition to documenting his artistic livelihood.

Subsequently, in the formation of putting together “thriller style” short films, a film director took notice of Mr. Perkins’ work. This director was in search of an illustrator for his first feature film.
