My House Name Is NINJA
I am Keisha Browne, but I am better known as Kalypso Ninja from the Iconic International House of Ninja. I have been a dancer for over 22 years. Starting out my journey at 9 years old in Brooklyn, New York. There, at Janet’s Dance Studio, I studied in the 3 foundations: Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. As I grew and moved to Florida, I continued my studies in dance at Raskin’s dance studio where I gravitated towards Hip-Hop. I taught classes, and as I went through college, I taught master classes.

At the age of 17, I was introduced to the Ballroom at my first drag show. I am still not too sure how I got in there, but it turned out to be such a turning point in my life. I saw voguing on YouTube and I had a friend who would teach me here and there and I felt the night club was the best, non-judgmental place to try what I’ve learned.

Not at all aware the Father of the Iconic International House of Ninja was watching. He invited me to a practice where I met the rest of my now Ballroom family. 14 years later; along with many wins in my category: Runway, Vogue, and Hand Performance; I am now the FL Overseer. Meaning that I manage the entire state of Florida and all its members.
The Category Is……
To be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and be able to give back fills me with such great joy. Even so , being able to bring all of Florida and maybe even out-of-state people under one roof for a night of beauty, art, culture, is a dream come true.
