'Children of the Ghetto'

"Don’t you ever be ashamed, pay attention

To the method of the game that’s embedded in your brain

I know this world left you at the bottom of the bucket

And they want to see you drown, but you gotta raise above it

Even if it means nada to the public

Social media, not the topic of discussion

I...don’t wanna see your hood fights on the internet

I wanna see you getting checks and praised for your intellect

Pullin up to your high school in a Lex

Workin’ part-time pay, plus benefits

Recognizing surviving’s in your bones

And you shine cuz I diamond’s in your soul

I know you’re probably tired of seeing these armed robberies

Blood, Crip, Mexican Mafia rivalries

Moms working 9 to 5, pops working

5 to 3, but still living in poverty

Coming home around the time that it’s time to eat

Trying to eat around the time that it’s time to sleep

Stomach in knots this week, thought about

Hustlin’ rocks for cheap, told yourself that that’s not for me

Consciously, said you’d never be a statistic

Or fulfill another prejudice prophecy

Staying true to yourself on these blocks and streets

Even if it means you can be shot, deceased

One hundred little youngin’, I just wanna

Tell you that you mean a lot to me

More than diamond rings or designer jeans

Carats on my chain, good credit to my name

What I’m trying to say is, y’all are precious blessings, no question

Worthy of love, respect, and protection

The same education as the Hamptons

Same economic and local community advancement

Someone to tell you “You’re beautiful. You’re handsome.”

Worthy of a dope I-Love-You anthem

Even Jesus was ghetto fab, he was

Helping the lost get home, like a yellow cab

Children of the Ghetto, Keep your head up high

Don’t be afraid to cry, don’t be ashamed to try

Cuz you were made to fly"

'Forever on My Mind'

"The saddest thing is shattered dreams and battered teens

Gas is up, taxes up, just to add to things

I’m mad it seems for every reason and every season

I need to realize the blessing just to be alive

I need to drive, pass by my no good, old hoods

305, I need to heed their cries see their grieving eyes

People left with less than nothing, overseas, stressed

And suffering, our soldiers messed up, chests are gushin’ (Uhh!)

No one to ease or relieve this pain, even at least explain

These tragedies, recent planes, flames

Are these allusions or nightmares? Confusion it’s quite

Clear, we’re humans and right here

With open arms and a helping hand

Right here’s a shoulder to cry on, lean over and die on

I will console you in my arms, trust no matter

What color, what case, what place, or what race

Throughout the drama rain do not give up

Remember I’m here for you baby do not give up

And through these lyrics I’ll sooth your spirit

Nothing could ever break us away

I pray you’ll make it today, please believe

For single mothers working 5 to 5, those who’re

Not alive or just feel they’re alone. You’re forever on my mind

For adolescents going through depression and just

Need someone to pick up the phone. You’re forever on my mind

For those who lead a hopeless life, who drink

And just smoke just to cope with life. Cuz you’re forever on my mind

Don’t stop believing, continue to fight

You’re the reason why I continue to write. Cuz you’re forever on my mind

In this concrete jungle strugglin’ stumblin’, stomachs rumblin’, crumblin’

Hatred and population is doublin’, blood is bubblin’

From west to east, terrorism we can’t rest in peace

Threats increased, someone should bless the streets

In addition to this desert storm, some wishin’

They were never born; there’s a new terror a new era

God just let your love just rain down, above us aim now

Hover over us, hug us, cover us from the rain now

I’ll speak for those who can’t speak for themselves

Young victims of drive-bys who can’t eat by themselves

Personally, I wish that I can breathe for them or bleed for them

Plead for them, give ‘em some motivation to keep going

Medger and Martin they took bullets for me

And rep my peoples to the fullest degree

Locked behind bars just so I can lift my voice

So I can marry anybody, baby it’s my choice

Down any street I can ride my bike, I can shine my light

Freedom of speech, baby, that’s why I write

When society’s on the next topic, next profit

Know that we’re together all the time and you’re forever on my mind!

For single mothers working 5 to 5, those who’re

Not alive or just feel they’re alone. You’re forever on my mind

For adolescents going through depression and just

Need someone to pick up the phone. You’re forever on my mind

For those who lead a hopeless life, who drink

And just smoke just to cope with life. Cuz you’re forever on my mind

Don’t stop believing, continue to fight

You’re the reason why I continue to write. Cuz you’re forever on my mind"

'LIVE: In Living Color'

"I know a city that’s so condensed and drenched with a stench

Of dead bodies and hot blood; it’s so intense

Don’t make sense, junkies on the bench; ladies and gents

Just to fix this up, you’re gonna need more than another wrench

No simple hand-wash or bucket rinse, I’m convinced

There’s evidence and proof of this epidemic ever since

The glits and glamour, clips on cameras

Daddy Dollars switched the grammar, way before the bricks and hammers

Now there’s color lines; black on black crime; people color blind

There’s a grind like no other grind, times like no other kind

Sweating and bleeding for another dime, now I know

Why these addicts keep fiendin’ for another line

To get away from this madness, pain and sadness

Cover their atlas, try escaping this bad trip

Citizens lost at the bottom of the map, trying to make it

Out the trap; it’s not sunny, it’s not funny….Listen!

All this double talking among the nation, in every

Congregation, 99.9 percent of these conversations

All of these statements like, Haitians and Asians

Shouldn’t be dating Whites, half of this country is living a racist life

Dumb enough to think segregation can make it right

Or 15 or 16 wrongs could ever make a right

These are the facts of life, for more than Blacks and Whites

And no approximate bull crap, exact, precise

Churches, homes, and little children been sacrificed

Adolescents beaten to death with bats and pipes

And most Americans do not care, say that they never

Judged the next man and know that they’re blowin’ hot air

It’s not fair, but homey it’s evident, I got the same skeletons

I’m living evidence, here’s a lesson, kid

From crack addicts, to Black Latins, to wanna-be-thugs

Every living thing on this planet just wanna be loved…AND THAT’S REAL!!
